# The car has broken down — what do I do?

Free [24-hour roadside assistance](https://www.racq.com.au/roadside-assistance/log-fleet-job) is provided for genuine breakdowns (not accidents), go to website [here](https://www.racq.com.au/roadside-assistance/log-fleet-job). If the car breaks down during your trip, call us on +61 2 7912 3610 to arrange help. If it can't be fixed on the spot we'll recover and repair it as soon as possible, and do our best to provide a replacement where one is available.

Some situations aren't covered by free assistance and may incur a charge — a flat battery from leaving lights or the entertainment system on, tyre changes, lost keys, or keys locked in the car. Letting the battery go flat through negligence can mean a $100 call-out plus towing.
